Awesome! That's good to know as I am considering a new workstation. Several months ago Hal suggested that I wait awhile, but that was mainly about Windows 7. Do you know how CS4 runs on a 64 bit system? Adobe's website says it is certified for a 32bit but I haven't read anything about a 64bit. I have drivers for my Xerox and Canon but not my Xante. Before the end of the month, I would like to make a decision.

Thanks!

Well Keith I run CS2 and it runs just fine. I have read CS4 will run in 64 bit too. Man it is really fast. We moved up to a to an Intel Quad processer with a 10000 rpm hard drive and 8 megs of ram. Wow it really moves over what we had!!!!! We do Graphics on it. Oh ya we went to a duel screen also. Bring on the large files.!!!! You will be just fine running CS4... Now we do have some cheap programs that wiil not run. you can run XP programs with it. They sure did a nice jod on 7.

BTW I have a HP 5000 and got drivers for it. We got windows 7 drivers. I have 3 digital copiers hooked up to this computer . 1 color and 2 BW and all run just fine. I did not think my HP would work but it did. I would think you can get drivers for Xante just fine on line.

Thanks! I have decided to get an Intel dual core 2.53 with 6 gigs memory and a 256mb nvidia graphics card. A Printplanet forum had recommended against a quad core as not many programs will utilize it. Not sure about dual monitors as my budget is only allowing for one. Besides, I don't know what I'm missing. I may get a cheap small monitor now and upgrade to two later down the road. I checked online for a Xante driver but they only have it for the newer "502" and not the older "427". This summer, I plan on sending it back to Xante for refurbishing, they may be able to upgrade that. Until then, my employee said we can just boot up to XP in the meantime as the only thing that printer prints is envelopes. Which I usually try to avoid since I don't have an envelope feeder.

Is this your Graphics Computer ? If so a 10000 rpm hard drive will make it very fast with the programs such as Photoshop and Corel Draw. I did not see the windows 7 drivers for Xante . Thought for sure they would be better at keeping up on that. Well i jumped the gun on 64 bit. I had to update any way. 64 bit will be the next big change over to come. It will be as common as 32 in the years to come. I saved 400 dollars on my system through a friend going with Dell so I went for the top Dog . It was well worth it!!!! The speed is so darn fast over what we had. Our system was 6 years old. It moves faster faster than my graphics guy can think..... Let me know how it works out for you. Make sure your card will support duel monitors , most do. If you do lots of graphics it really speeds things up. You need to see one in action. We run 22 inch main and a 19 inch second. Flat screens .

It'll be the backup graphics machine but primarily the driver of all my printers. Also, it'll do imposition and preflight. I have a Dell account for myself and my business but if I take on any more debt I'll vomit. Besides, I can build a computer that's twice as strong yet half as cheap as a Dell. It's a project I've wanted to do for some time. My Wife has done it before. I've decided on a 64 bit with a quad core 2.6, 4gigs of memory (I may take it to 8) and a 1gig nvidia graphics card that supports dual monitor. I'll probably make the second monitor an upgrade (I don't know what I'm missing yet) so I can spend the money on that extra 4 gigs of ram. I will probably take your advice on the 10,000rpm drive. But than again, ANYTHING I build or buy will be at least ten times better than what I have. All my stuff is 4 years old and was barely mediocre when new. Currently, my computers are killing me!
