Upgrading Morning Flight

Before you upgrade, back up the entire C:\Program Files\Printfire\MorningFlight folder into a backup folder, either on an external hard drive or on a flash drive. It's good practice to include today's date in the name of the backup folder, such as "MFlight_11_03_08".
Install the new program into your current Morning Flight directory (C:\Program Files\Printfire\MorningFlight by default), over the existing .TPS data files. If any file needs to be converted, Morning will automatically upgrade it.
When you convert from XP to VISTA

Morning Flight programs will run under Vista without modification, provided there is only one user per machine. If you expect to set up multiple User Accounts on the same computer,

Create a new folder named Printfire in the root (example, C:\Printfire).
Copy and paste all your current .TPS files into that folder.
Install the program into that folder as well (instead of the default C:\Program Files\Printfire\MorningFlight).
The order of doing things is important. There may have been changes in the structure of some of your .TPS files. By loading the files first and then installing MF over them, the program will recognize those changes and automatically convert and transfer your data. Doing it the other way around could get you an "Incorrect File Structure" error, with MF aborting.

As always, back up your .TPS files beforehand. At the very least, copy and paste those files, don't move them. Keep the originals in their old location until everything is up and running.

Hi Hal,

I feel like I know you after reading all the stuff in the forum..

I currently use the "free" silver edition and after about a year now it's great.
I was thinking of installing Gold but I'm now that I'm hooked I was wondering about how, when and how much will the cost be if I upgrade to Gold and can't live without it...

What's the plan Hal?

Hi Hal, I feel like I know you after reading all the stuff in the forum...

Works both ways, David. Short of meeting someone in person, forums are a great way to get acquainted and stay in touch. That's not their primary function, I know, but it definitely rates as the number one perk.

The Gold Edition, when released, will sell for $485.00 U.S. That will include the Flight Engineer. As for the commercial release date, probably not before Spring of next year. Until then, the program will stay in beta as a free download.

I should mention that none of our betas expire or self-destruct at the end of the test cycle! So if you download now ...
